Parent Expectations for 2024

Practices:

  • We have 3 practice squads.

  • Coaches will move swimmers to the appropriate practice and continue to reserve the right to move them to the most appropriate practice squad.

  • Swimmers must wear sneakers for practice as we will be doing dryland practice at the beginning of each practice. You will see more dryland incorporated into practice to strengthen the core, which will also improve swimming and help prevent injury.

  • Parents do not need to remain at practice; you may drop your swimmer off and return at the end of the practice.

  • Parents and siblings may not be on the pool deck during practices.

  • If you need to speak with a coach, please do so after practice

Volunteering:

  • Meets cannot run without parent volunteers. It takes 50+ volunteers to run a home meet and 25+ volunteers are needed for an away meet.

  • Each family is required to volunteer 3 times across the dual meets

  • Sign up with the use of “Sign-Up Genius”

  • Sign in at each meet when you are volunteering or find the volunteer coordinator.

  • Be on time for your volunteer post and know who is replacing you.

  • Do not leave your post until you are replaced.

  • Volunteering at an invitational meet does not count toward your volunteer times but often allows you to enter these meets without paying an admission fee.

Swim Meets:

  • Remember to be good sports. Sportsmanship rules will be enforced per the LCSSL. Hostile, negative, or abusive remarks will not be tolerated.

  • Swimmers must be declared available or unavailable for each meet and invitational. Undeclared swimmers are considered available.

  • In the event of severe weather, do not leave the meet, as it may most likely resume. You may wait in your car.

  • Coaches are not to be approached during meets, if you have a concern, find a board member.

  • Parents may not approach the scoring table.

Swimmers:

  • Swimmers should wear team shirt to each meet.

  • Swimmers are required to wear their swim caps during events to allow coaches to identify them.

  • Swimmers should remain in the designated area at the team tent during all meets – Parents should not

sit with their swimmer (this is same as other sport expectations).

  • Swimmers are expected to remain present for the entire meet. If they need to leave early, they must first check-in with a coach to ensure no line-up change.

Photography:

  • In compliance with USA Swimming Rules and Regulations: Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in the changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms. Additionally, the use of equipment capable of taking pictures or videos (cell phones, cameras, PDA's, etc.) are banned from behind the starting blocks during the entire meet, including warm up and down periods. Unless approved in advance and stated in the meet announcement, photographers, videographers are not permitted on deck at any time.

Communication:

  • Website – check regularly for updates, ensure you are getting e-mails, use to declare swimmer availability.

  • Check the website, Facebook, and Instagram to get updates from coaches/board including weather alerts.

  • Family Folders – Check daily for handouts, ribbons, etc.

Big Fish, Little Fish (Swim Buddies):

  • Each swimmer will be assigned a buddy (big fish/little fish).

  • The purpose of this is to have a swimmer to cheer for during the meet and encourage to their best.
